This Leaside home on a corner lot had a large lawn open to the street in contrast to a small backyard and both were in need of privacy and some plants. The large corner yard was often used as a ‘shortcut’ for people in the neighbourhood and the owners had people and their pets walking across their front lawn all the time.
Instead of a privacy fence or a row of trees, the owners opted for a more neighbour friendly lower yew hedge around the entire perimeter to enclose the yard and detract people from using it as a walk-through. A row of boxwood along the house, a Japanese maple tree in the corner, and some evergreen trees also add to the curb appeal and break up the large lawn.
The perimeter of the small backyard was planted with rows of columnar beech and birch trees to add height and create privacy for the backyard and hot tub. Shorter perennial grasses were planted in between the trees for a clean look that is easy maintenance.

Customer review
Earth and Sole completed a backyard renovation for our family in the Fall of 2017. From the planning process to project completion, they exceeded my expectations. The team communicated proactively with me throughout the process. They were neat, polite and very respectful to my neighbors. The quality of work is exceptional and they truly transformed my backyard into a beautiful, private space that we will enjoy for years to come. I would highly recommend Earth and Sole for your landscape design and outdoor projects.
